The Paving the Way program was created in 1990 as a cooperative effort among the Federal Highway Administration, the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission and the city of Columbus to improve planning and communication of road-construction projects.
Our mission is to improve communication about road-construction in Central Ohio. We also work to reinforce these important road safety principles:
- Always use extra caution in road-construction work zones.
- Help reduce congestion by carpooling, using COTA, biking or walking.
- Share the road safely. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians need to be cautious in the roadway and watch for each other.
- Drive smart, know the rules of the road and never drive distracted.
Staff is available during regular working hours to answer questions and listen to comments from the general public. You can call Paving the Way at (614) 645-PAVE (614) 645-7283, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
